How i spend #Christmas in #Aba #Abia State #Nigeria. #Tree

What Xmas was like growing up in Aba.
I took this picture today in the office.
Christmas is around the corner. Wish i was at home with my mum  and siblings, i can remember what Christmas was like growing up, Before the Christmas my  mum will take us (a boy and 2 girls. my dad died when i was 2 years plus, younger brother was one and the last girl was still foetus) to the tailor to take our measurement to sew our Christmas dress. then she will buy other ones from the market, according to her, she stop taking us along with her for the shopping because i embarrassed her one day she took me out for shopping, the dress she was able to afford for me i rejected it in front of people crying because i wanted more beautiful and expensive dress than the one she wanted to buy for me.while she is yet to forgive me for that cos she always said she will do same to me the day of my traditional marriage. i have already promised my self i will buy the most expensive wrapper in the market for her, so she would not have to complain.

On 25th of December, we will wake up early to start preparing the food for the day mostly rice, beans chicken sometimes salad or vegetable. after preparing the food she will give to people in the compound and her friends living around. by 12:pm we will take our bath, eat, and hit the road, then we used to stay at our family house(my mum family house, when my dad died according to our tradition, my dad's family collected everything that my dad had and left my mum with nothing only 3(three) of us, the most precious things in her life today. she had to go back to her family, that was how we came to live in her family house with her step mother and siblings things were moving smoothly until the second daughter of my mum step mother came back from her husband house. things become worst when the last boy of the house died by a stray bullet from a police when he was playing foot ball along the street. while that is a story for another day. after everything we have to move out of the family house to a rented apartment. the best decision my mum made).  we will visit the amusement park to ride horse, bus with N10 after that we will visit our friends, from there we will go back home.End of day one.

The second day which is 26th boxing day we will visit a field where masquerade from one different  villages in Abia State will come out. it use to be fun and terrible. i don't usually enjoy it because it used to be scaring seeing the masquerade chasing u up and down and i believe it supposed to be for adult and mostly people get wounded on that day, i don't think they are still doing it  again.

All these are when we are not travelling to our village(Ekoli Edda in Afikpo South Local Government in Ebonyi State, Nigeria) for the xmas.

The year we will  travel to village for the xmas, the celebration is always different, it takes a lot of preparation buying of food items and gifts that will be enough for us, for our grand mum when she was alive and for others in the village.  on 25th we prepare food as usual but after eating is either you go back to sleep or go to the field where they are playing inter village football or visit friends that came back from different towns, states and countries for xmas that is the most interesting part of spending the xmas holiday in the village.

This year xmas, i don't know how it will be because right now am in Lagos 10 hours driver far away from home. hopefully it will be fun, sure u will get the details later.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hope you enjoyed mine. please let me know how you spend you Christmas

HOW TO MAKE BEADED BALLS

BEADED BALLS BY ARUO CREATIONS

#BEADED #BALL #NECKLACE Materials for complete set
.30mm fishing line
2 beading needles
Size 4mm swarovski
15-20 layers(2) divider
10 layers hook
2 layers hook(increase or reduced it your choice)
2 Earring Top
28- 45 gold fittings

It actually takes 30 pieces of  4mm swarovski to make a ball, then you can use like 30 strands of 4mm swarovski to make 132 balls for  the complete set. you start by making the 132 ball down then join later.

One thing like about the beaded ball is that you can make any kind of design out of it. single line with fittings interchangeably or without fittings, you can also make 3 layers with matting method and add the balls in the middle. i will teach that in my next blog watch out for it.

My Journey in Bead Making

After my Nysc in 2011, i came back to Lagos the land of opportunities (that is what i choose to call it) in search of a job. After many months of searching (if you leave in Nigeria You will understand) while i did not wait to search for so long. I decided to do what i like most Beading. the decision was how to go about it. Many people discouraged me but thanks to the kind of girl friends i have they said "Faith go for it". they helped me decide where to learn it. while once i stated there was no going back it been like making one bead or the other.
